Hawser Pipe

Description
A lead hawser pipe with a lip of 50mm around top and bottom ends.
A hawser pipe was located within the hull at the bow (front) of a ship. Its purpose was fairly simple, to allow the anchor chain to be raised without damaging the wooden hull of the ship in the process. Therefore, the hawser pipe was made out of lead which was strong enough to handle the weight of not only the anchor but also the chain it was attached to.
