About This Object
A handle of a gun primer.Dark wooden handle, bulge around centre, handle at top is circular with part of it missing, three grooves run around circumference of central bulge.

Charges of powder were made up in cartridges of paper or linen to ensure the correct quantity was used. After insertion down the barrel, the primer was thrust down the vent hole to pierce the cartridge.
