Padlock
Description
Small padlock missing its loop. Made of metal – strong but certainly not cheap. Not likely property of a rating but an officer, in an attempt to prevent theft, which was a punishable offence. Stores of food, alcohols or medicine would be locked with padlocks. Keys were limited to those officers responsible.
