Door Knob
Description
This object is a metal door or drawer knob found on the wreck of the Invincible. At this time Georgian furniture became increasingly popular due to its lighter and symmetrical designs. Georgian furnishings were often delicate pieces. If this knob belonged to a drawer, there is a chance that it was made out of mahogany. On the other hand, Georgian door furniture was generally cast-iron painted black – suggesting that this was more than likely a door knob.
