Gaming Board

Description
A variety of board games were played on board eighteenth century warships. Chess was one of the more popular games played by off duty officers. Except in times of great danger, such as during bad weather or faced with imminent action, daily life for a sailor was not a constant round of working, eating and sleeping. There were specific times set aside for leisure activities when they could relax.
