Making Iron (bent)

Description
Different types of making irons were used by caulkers to meet the needs of various working positions whilst caulking, irons such as this one have narrow blades for pressing the oakum below the surface of the seam which is then filled or 'payed up' with pitch. The blade of this iron is stamped W.GILPIN and a Broad Arrow.
