Powder Box
Description
The powder magazine box was found in the Forward Hanging Magazine and at the time contained two copper powder-measures. The purpose of the box was to receive the contents of the full powder barrel. The box’s construction is in pine wood using mortise and Tenon joints, while the handles and box base are secured using treenails. Not using ferrous fastenings avoids the possible risk of fire from sparks.
