Sail Pricker

Description
Used by sail makers in the laying out of the design of the sail on a loft floor. The sail was drawn full size on the loft floor in chalk. The corners were drawn in and marked with sail prickers driven into the floor, a length a twine was run round the prickers and drawn tight. Adjustments to the sail shape were made with further twine around prickers used. Bolts of canvas were rolled across the pattern, cut to size and pegged down with more prickers.
